When I think about what Heads represents, it’s stories like this that remind me why we do what we do. I still remember when I stepped onto that stage for your very first open mic with them last year, hungry, determined, and ready to see where my voice could take me. Watching my growth since then has been nothing short of inspiring.
From that first performance to now working with Manchester United, hosting the Footlocker cypher, and now preparing for my own headline show, working you has been a privilege. From feeling low due to putting work in the scene and feeling stuck Being able to host and headline my own event alongside Heads feels like a full-circle moment, not just for me but for all of us who’ve been part of this journey.
I also need to shout out the people around you who make this journey even more powerful.
Molly, an absolutely amazing person who always shows up with warmth and a willingness to help. Her support is felt in everything she does.
And Liam who started off as a promoter but grew into a brother. He doesn’t just guide you; he teaches you how to guide yourself. That’s real community.

I moved to Manchester two years ago knowing there were creative communities out there, but I struggled to find a space where I actually felt like I belonged and it felt isolating. I wanted people to bounce ideas off, to feel like I wasn’t figuring it all out on my own.
Since coming to Heads, that’s completely flipped. I’ve built real friendships with people I now see regularly at events, collaborated on projects with others in the community, and for the first time, I feel genuinely integrated in the city.

My experience with Heads has been incredible. I started my creative practice through them, they first gave me a safe and encouraging platform to begin performing poetry and to develop. As a by product of this I’ve had many amazing opportunities open up for me through them and I’ve felt so supported. I attribute a lot of my artistic development and growth to them. I did my first ever headline show through them, and have experienced incredible things like being featured on the BBC and on the MEN. Artists get involved, it’s an encouraging community they have built and they have impacted my life and many others in a big way! It’s amazing what they are doing for creatives in the city.

After a decade away from Manchester and the UK, returning to restart my creative career felt daunting. Attending Heads events helped me reconnect with the city I was born in and begin building a new creative life here. The spaces Molly and Liam curate are unlike typical networking events they truly care about early-career creatives and give so much of their time and energy. Heads UK North for creatives! Summer time I got offered to vlog for Liam at Cupra Manchester. Amazed to Vlog founder. Over weeks capturing the moments and networking like minded people, it has taught me what is like be creative person. There huge opportunities to learn and grow with skills I have! I have been observing HEADS work and build for a few years now. I remember writing them down in my goals list, of people I wanted to work with. What a beautiful moment to now be able to look back and see how we crossed paths this year. I then had the honour of being chosen to perform, 2 weeks in a row, at their Open Mic at CUPRA.
